AFC-Adult Foster Care

The Adult Foster Care (AFC) Program at MetroCare is designed to support individuals who have MassHealth, are over the age of 16, and have a chronic illness or disability that makes it unsafe for them to live alone. Our program offers comprehensive assistance to people with physical or mental disabilities, ensuring they receive the care and support they need in the comfort of a private home. We provide 24/7 assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, and ambulating. Additionally, our team helps arrange medical care, offers reliable transportation for appointments and daily activities, and ensures that nutritious meals are prepared to meet individual dietary needs.

One of the unique features of our AFC Program is the financial assistance provided to family caregivers. Caregivers can receive up to $1,500 per client per month, tax-free, for taking care of their loved ones at home. This compensation is available to family members, excluding the client’s spouse and parents of minor children, and helps alleviate the financial burden of providing at-home care. For individuals who do not have a place to live, we assist in finding appropriate housing and a caregiver, ensuring a secure and supportive environment for everyone involved.

At MetroCare, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and stable environment where individuals can live with dignity and independence. Our AFC Program is committed to enhancing the quality of life for both clients and caregivers by providing essential support, financial assistance, and comprehensive care services. Whether you are looking for help with daily activities, medical care, transportation, or meal preparation, MetroCare is here to support you and your family every step of the way.
