How do I start the service enrollment process?

How can I determine if I or my loved one is eligible for your services?
To be eligible for our Adult Foster Care programs, one must meet the following criteria:
Our Adult Foster Care Programs are available to clients who have MassHealth, are over the age of 16, have a chronic illness or disability, who need assistance with daily activities, and are unable to live alone safely.
Who can be an MetroCare caregiver?
- Caregiver and the individual being cared for must live together
- Caregiver must be 18 years of age or older
- Caregiver must have the ability and time to provide necessary care
- Caregiver can be a member or non-family member of the person they are caring for
- Caregiver cannot be a spouse or related legal guardian
Is any family member eligible to be a caregiver?
Currently spouses and related legal guardians are not allowed to be paid caregivers.
How long does it typically take to start services?
Services can begin immediately upon Masshealth approval, which includes documentation from the client’s physician and initial screening
How are clients and caregivers matched up?
Our caregivers are chosen to meet clients’ cultural and linguistical needs. We often match caregivers with clients who have similar backgrounds, which helps us serve our diverse population. We also consider other factors, like personalities, physical needs, smoking, pets, stairs, location, and more when matching clients and caregivers.
What is your screening process for caregivers?
Caregivers are screened following Massachusetts guidelines to make sure they can provide safe and supportive care.

How can MetroCare help a caregiver?
Along with paying caregivers for their work, our team of experienced nurses and care managers will help create and manage care plans, and visit clients’ homes regularly. Our trained staff is available 24/7 to help with any problems or questions. We also help find programs and services to keep clients safe, healthy, and connected to their community.
